Principal's Message

Greetings Cerritos Tigers!

As your principal, it is an honor and a privilege to welcome you to a new school year.  At Cerritos Elementary School we are proud of the dedicated effort of our students, parents and staff to make Cerritos the wonderful place that it is to learn.  Cerritos Elementary’s success is a result of the great partnership of all stakeholders, and this partnership has resulted in Cerritos Elementary School being recognized as a California Distinguished School, an Honor Roll School, and the recipient of the California Gold Ribbon Award and the National Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award.

At Cerritos Elementary we believe that citizens of the future will be life-long learners, able to work and interact in a diverse society.  To achieve grade level mastery, our students use critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies.  Our classrooms are welcoming places of collaboration and cooperation where students develop and maintain positive social interactions based on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

Cerritos Elementary School is home to approximately 650 diverse students in kindergarten through sixth grade along with 23 teachers and over 20 support staff to ensure student safety and successful learning.  All members of Cerritos work towards the same goal: Student Achievement.  Our students, parents, and staff are highly motivated, and desire the very best, and we are proud to witness our extremely capable students consistently strive to meet and exceed expectations.

With the generous support of our families, community, and the ABC Unified School District, we are able to provide our students with a myriad of enrichment opportunities such as the following: Technology Instruction, Choral Music, Math Olympiad, Reading Olympics, Band, Valet Drop-Off, Up-to-Date Technology in Classrooms, Educational Field Trips, Visual Arts via Fibo Art, Science on the Go, and many other experiences for our students.  We offer before and after school daycare and homework support through our Extended Daycare program, and homework assistance and a tutorial program after school through Ready Study Go!

Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Cerritos Elementary Educational Foundation (CEEF) are great organizations for our parents to network and support one another, and to help guide the direction of our school programs.  We love having parents volunteer in classrooms and on campus supporting school-wide events.  We hope that you’ll join us at one of our many community events, including our annual pancake breakfast.

It is a joy to serve the Cerritos Elementary School community, staff, and students.  I look forward to the great experiences that lie before us this school year.  I wish all of our talented Tigers a terrific school year.

Sincerely,

Mr. Spratt

Principal
